Believer

Last year by chance we came upon this interesting, low-key cosmic jangle-pop trio from LA and their album Rose Main Reading Room.
Earlier this year we picked up on the reissue their 2018 Modern Meta Physic and were again quietly enthusiastic.
This new album is a bit slight and is eight songs left off Rose Main Reading Room, but isn't without its charms and these mostly don't feel like offcuts.
The delicate title track puts us in mind of the alt.dream-folk of the late Sixties and people like the Incredible String Band (it is barely 90 seconds long), The Band From Northampton is equally delightful folk pop (think a subtle blend of the Association and The 59th Street Bridge Song) and the almost baroque pop of Believer – sans orchestration – will sweep you away.
Mostly these do sound like polished demos of songs that would have needed a bit of work to get them onto an album, but there's no denying breathy charm of Letters and the incomplete Take It.
One to check out if either of those earlier albums we posted got into your subconscious as it did ours.
