Born to Be Wild, by Steppenwolf

It is one of the great lines in movie history, the teenage girl turns to Johnny and asks, “What are you rebelling against?”
The leather-jacketed Johnny, all hooded eyes and sullen says, “Whaddya got?”
Between Marlon Brando's moody and angry Johnny – leader of the Black Rebel Motorcycle Gang in the 1953 classic The Wild One – and to Easy Rider (1969) and beyond there were dozens of cheap movies about motorcycle gangs and violent rebels.
And the posters for these B-grade, sociological studies and cash-ins took their lead from the dime-store novels about the emerging subculture of outlaws, outsiders, rebels, drugs, hookers and crime.
As a salute to the sometimes lurid but evocative poster art of biker flicks we offer the following, movies which starred the likes of Dennis Hopper, Jack Nicholson and Peter Fonda (before Easy Rider), Tyne Daly, John Cassavetes, Bruce Dern and scores of others who went on to no fame at all.
(And you can actually buy the DVDs of these films from videobeat.com)
